🪮 Shirley Polykoff’s brilliant copywriting example

Shirley Polykoff, best known for her work with Clairol Hair Color, was an influential advertising executive known for transforming the hair dye market with her innovative ad campaigns.

Here’s why I find this ad interesting:

Cultural Sensitivity: At a time when hair coloring was considered taboo and somewhat scandalous, Polykoff's campaign delicately navigated the social norms. The slogan cleverly suggested that hair coloring could be a private affair, turning potential negative perceptions into a classy secret.

Ads that resonate with (or challenge) societal values and norms are more likely to be accepted and embraced.

Another great example of this concept is Dove’s Real Beauty campaign in 2004, that featured women of various ages, sizes, and ethnic backgrounds, challenging the beauty industry's traditional standards. It aimed to broaden the definition of beauty and boost women's confidence in their natural appearance.

🍫 Cadbury’s famous slogan

The Cadbury slogan, "A Glass and a Half in Every Bar," has a rich history that ties directly into the brand's identity and marketing strategy.

The phrase was introduced in 1928 as part of an advertising campaign to emphasize the amount of milk in each chocolate bar, highlighting the quality and richness of Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate.

I believe it’s a great example of desciptive copywriting. My mouth is watering just looking at it:
